RUGBY LEAGUE: The Queanbeyan Blues hosts an annual junior carnival, but last month it was all the more special, raising more than $4000 for local family the Asbocks for Angelique's cancer treatment.

Queanbeyan United Blues Committee member Deb McIntosh said she felt compelled to do something when she heard Angelique's story and burst into tears when she realised the ages of her children Luc, 11 and Romeo, 8 as they were the same age as her children.
"I could not imagine having to go through as a mum what she is going through right now. We all know when we are feeling unwell our patience are not as high as they normally would be," McIntosh said.
"Having to stay strong for the children whilst feeling so unwell plus the burden of financial struggles due to [husband] Mark having to stay home to care for her I just could not stop thinking about Angelique. Although I had never met Angelique I was feeling her pain for her."
McIntosh approached the Blues to see if they were able to fundraise for the family considering Mark was a former Blue and Romeo currently plays juniors at the club.
About 660 children from under 6s to under 8s attended the carnival from as far as Sydney and fundraisers such as cake stalls and raffles were held and donations buckets were carried around throughout the day.
McIntosh expressed her thanks for attendants participation in the day, support and generosity.
