In just five rounds the Roos have gone from fifth on the Canberra Raiders Cup ladder, with three wins, three losses, to third, pushing second, at seven wins, three losses.

Slow starts hampered Queanbeyan in the first few rounds, but recently the Roos have flown out of the blocks and Saturday's win against the Bushrangers was no exception.

Queanbeyan looked in control for the majority of the game, but it was a tight contest throughout. The Roos only managed to kick away in the second half to register a 38-16 victory.

Bryan Cronan and Matt Adams (two tries each) starred for the home side, but it was a day of the imports, Max Herold was without a doubt best on ground and Jack Miller (five goals) has been integral in the Roos recent peak in form, Roos coach/captain Aaron Gorrell said.

"[Cronan] was good, Max was the best by far, he just brings that bit of toughness, carries strong and he's added to us nicely, he just keeps getting better and better each game," he said.

"Jack Miller has been really good for us- I think out of all of the halves we've got from different places he's been really good, he's tough for a [half-back], he takes a beating and his goal kicking has been good.

"Matt Adams and Cody Parsons did well for young blokes. We had a few players out, so Cody played three-quarters of the under 18s [match] and then played for first grade and Jake Kiely played most of the reserve grade [match] and half of first grade."

Last time the Roos met the Bulls in round four, they were handed a 24-point loss, but Gorrell is confident the result will be different come Sunday.

"The Bulls gave us a touch up last time we played them, but we're a completely different team now," he said.

"We're building nicely and our defence is working pretty well, our attack at times is good too. We're our own worst enemy sometimes, we fall into patches where we just expect things to happen for us. We need to compete for a full 80 minutes instead of putting the cue in the rack.

"We're nowhere near where we need to be, but if we stick to our structures, keep improving and play how we want to play we can beat any team."
