Hogs' season kicks off at Harman

The Hogs have already put in a solid two wins from two games to kick off their campaign and despite a number of new players coach Joel Percy is confident the team can come together.

"We weren't too bad last season, but we missed out on finals by about a goal and we took it pretty hard," he said.

"We lacked numbers last season, so we've merged the teams and moved down to fourth grade.

"But we've got a good core group of players and the new guys, some who haven't even played footy before, are taking the game up well.

"Liam Terho used to play rugby league, but he's played well on the forward flank in his first two games.

"And Josh Cole is a strong running, tackling small forward- he's been good for us."

Harman do not have an official home ground so training at Town Park has taken it's toll on preseason preparations, Percy said.

"We're also playing at Googong this season which is an exciting move for us," he said.

"Council have only just put the goal posts up [at Town Park], so our goal kicking has been a bit off.

"We've been working on our basic skills, goal kicking mostly."

Percy said wins against the UC Magpies and Woden came down to a "strong midfield" and he is confident the run can continue against ADFA/RMC.

"We changed our style of play to a short game and we've been moving well," he said.

"But we want to rebuild the two teams again- we're a very community-oriented club and we're always looking for new players of all abilities.

"We should hopefully be competitive against ADFA."
