The march, lead by the Light Horse Regiment, traveled from the Queanbeyan RSL on Crawford Street to the War Memorial on Lowe Street- with ex servicemen and women, members of HMAS Harman, the Canberra Brass Band and Bagpipers, scouts, brownies and girl guides and primary and high schools from the region in tow.
Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall and Karabar High School captains spoke to the crowd of the impact the war had on not only Australia, but Queanbeyan and the region.
Hymns were sung and of course Waltzing Matilda, God Save Our Queen and Advance Australia Fair.
The memorial was laid with wreaths while the Catafalque party watched on
The last post was played, followed by two minutes silence and the Ode, before the participants marched back to the RSL.
A wonderful presentation by the Queanbeyan Sub-Branch of the Returned and Services League of Australia and Queanbeyan City Council.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
Lest we forget.
