"I'm happy with the result, but it was not a good performance," he said.
ADFA were a strong opponent and City struggled to contain them, scoreless in the first half and trailing by two goals at halftime.
But City are not the type of team to lay down and give up, and apparently they saved all of their effort for the last 15 minutes.
Queanbeyan City FC vice captain Nick Noveski finally broke City's scoring drought and ADFA gifted the visitors with an own goal soon after.
Trajkovski said Noveski played well and backman Tomas Magna held the fort in defence.
"We never gave up and we worked harder and improved in the second half, but we didn't play well enough," he said.
"We play Monaro (on Saturday) and they're a good team, so we'll see how we go, but I'm confident.
"We have good players and we're good enough to win- we just have to step up."
