A LITTLE slice of Bollywood came to the Queanbeyan Golf Club last week with the club house becoming the set for a small Indian feature film.

The new film 'Salt Bridge' is being shot at a number of locations across the Capital region and traces the story of an Indian academic who migrates to the small, fictional Australian town of Salt Bridge.
Queanbeyan Golf Club web administrator Daniel Lillicrap offered the services of the Golf Club to a friend working on the movie crew, and it was used as the backdrop for a coffee scene last Tuesday.
Mr Lillicrap ran the idea past the club's general manager Glen Lloyd, who was happy to assist, with club members and customers curious at the film crew and actors in their midst.
"Some were surprised and excited to be in the presence of a professional production, and people were very interested in looking on ... We had a bit of a following there for a while," Mr Lillicrap said.
'Salt Bridge' is no stereotypical, big budget Bollywood production with a large cast and major dance scenes. However producers hope it will provide a little slice of Australiana for the Indian film market.
"I was joking with some of the cast and crew about making my Bollywood debut and was getting my jazz hands ready, but it wasn't that sort of production," Mr Lillicrap laughed.
"With the script being about how an immigrant to Australia is adjusting, I don't think it was going go over well having a song and dance number with that.
"But they're definitely trying to get a Bollywood audience. The hope is that back in India it will really take off, and for Queanbeyan and Canberra, it might attract even a couple of extra people to see what Australia is like."
