Afghanistan, considered a minnow cricketing nation, are in Canberra for the weekend as part of their 2015 Cricket World Cup campaign warm-up, and will play two one-day matches against the Comets, including Friday's action and another match on Sunday.
Hunt was only named in the side to play on Friday, and being 12th man, he will likely only be running the drinks out to his team mates.
But given he is just 17 years of age, and has only switched from playing in his home town of Grenfell to Queanbeyan this season, it has still proved to be an exciting opportunity for the teenager.
"It'll be a good experience playing with people that have come from all over the state," Hunt said.
"Players have come from the Sydney region to play with us, and some from country NSW, and having the opportunity to play with them will be a really good experience."
Hunt had been training with the Comet's under 19s high performance squad during the off-season, and said twice a week his squad also trained with the first grade Comets.
Despite not making it to all training sessions, due to still living in Grenfell, Hunt said he still got the call-up from Comets' coach Mark Higgs, who informed him of his selection last week.
"Higgs said 'we want to get you more experience in the higher levels', and I said 'well yeah, pencil me in'," Hunt said.
"It was a surprise because I haven't really played grade cricket in Canberra, but like Mark said, it's just a learning curve, to get some experience under my belt, and to enjoy it."
Hunt made his debut for Queanbeyan last weekend in two pre-season matches against the Manly Warringah Cricket Club.
