White played a blinder in his side's 33-10 smashing of the Uni-Norths Owls last Saturday at the ANU when he began his new halves pairing with fellow young star Billy Chalker.
Hawley injured his shoulder during training last week before the Owls clash, opening the door for White.
But Fahey said after his debut White had "taken the opportunity with both hands."
"He's got a bullet-like pass, he's a big half back...he's got an opportunity now to make that position his permanent position," he said.
Fahey said his men could not afford to be complacent against competition cellar-dwellers Eastern Suburbs at Campese Field on Saturday.
They shocked the competition last weekend when they beat Wests Lions to claim their first victory for 2014.
Fahey said it was a good opportunity for his Whites to claim back-to-back wins, but Easts were the most likely team to pull off an upset.
"Easts are one of those teams that has a remarkable ability to lift against Queanbeyan," he said.
With just four weeks to go after Saturday's game, there is a good opportunity for the Whites to break the competition deadlock under first place, but it will not get easier with the almighty Tuggeranong Vikings in the way next weekend.
"We're not looking beyond this week though. If you take things for granted in this competition you'll get beat," said Fahey.
