IT is the first time the Bungendore Tigers rugby league club have entered the competition, but according to Tigerettes touch football coach Matthew Pateman, it was a crucial move by the club in engaging women.

The concept has been a great success for the club after four rounds of the George Tooke Women's Touch Football competition, with 18 girls signing up and taking one win from three games played so far.
The girls range from 14 years of age upwards, and make up the only solely female team at the club.
Pateman said the competition was "the start of something big" to involve females in rugby league in the years to come.
"We're bringing more people down to watch the footy by having the girls here, so it's getting the town more involved and can only be seen as a great thing," said Pateman.
Jess Cooper, Jess O'Rourke, Cassie Fisher and Maddie Hargreaves have all come across from the ACT under 20s representative side to play with Bungendore this season in a large boost to the side.
The girls went down to a strong Binalong Brahams outfit 7-2 in their inaugural match four weeks ago, but returned home strongly to dispatch the Boomanulla Raiders 5-0 in what was their first ever win.
They had a week off last week after going down to the Harden Hawks 6-3.
"They're getting better and better every week," said Pateman.
"For a town that's mostly OzTag orientated, they've adapted very well to touch football."
Tigerettes player Teagan Pateman said the girls were having great fun playing in the competition's first season.
"It's my my first time playing touch and I scored two tries," she said.
The girls showed a lot of enthusiasm when speaking with The Queanbeyan Age, and said their three games to date had been of high intensity.
Pateman praised their attitude and said they could make the top four at the end of the season.
They play the Yass Magpies in Yass on Saturday.
