After playing for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League in January, and after another stellar ACT grade cricket season and national Future's League, Dean entered the CPL draft to gain overseas exposure.
He scored 234 not out early in the ACT grade season and averaged almost 20 for the Strikers with a strike rate of 184.
But unfortuantely for the Bathurst product, his quick-fire 2013 PMs XI innings against the West Indies was not remembered well enough in the Caribbean, with no clubs accepting his draft.
"I'm really thinking about my opportunities at the moment and that's going to come in the BBL hopefully at the end of the year," said Dean.
He said the Indian Premier League was still "a world above" him, and that his goal was just to get a BBL contract for next summer.
He said he loved his time at the Adelaide Strikers last season and would happily go back there should another contract be offered.
