The event is for the whole community not just the school's teachers and students, Queanbeyan P&C president Kym Bush said.
"It's an open invitation to the whole community because this school has had such an impact on this town," she said.
"Our aim is to have a big party celebration and we want to invite the whole community to celebrate its history. To have a look at how the school has shaped Queanbeyan and how Queanbeyan has shaped it."
The 150th Birthday Fete will be held at the school on Saturday, March 29 from 10am to 2pm.
There will be the plenty of family friendly activities on the day including face painting, a jumping castle, a petting paddock and classic fete stalls selling an assortment of things like lollies and preserves. Merchandise created especially for the school's 150th birthday will also be sold on the day.
Punters will be able to dine on fairy floss, ice cream and Devonshire tea provided by the Queanbeyan Country Women's Association.
The school's band and choir as well as local cultural dance groups will provide the entertainment on the day.
Community groups including the Smith Family, Queanbeyan Scouts, Queanbeyan Girl Guides, Queanbeyan Police and emergency services will also be attending the Fete.
Mrs Bush said there will also be activities involving the school's history which are sure to test community members and keep them on their toes.
"We have a scavenger hunt which is a 20 question quiz with the answers hidden around the school.
"They'll be timed so the person with who has the quickest time and with all the right answers will get a big prize," Mrs Bush said.
"There will be other quizzes like 'can you design the original school uniform?', 'how many students were boys or girls when the school first opened' and so on."
The 'Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow' exhibition - a retrospective look on Queanbeyan Public School since it first opened - will also be on dispaly in the school hall. All the money raised from the Fete will be put towards school projects but Mrs Bush hopes that above all the community has a good time at the celebration.
"I hope people feel there's a sense of community here. A sense that this school isn't just classrooms, there's a lot more to it. It's a great place to be, it's got great people in it," she said.
"It's a chance for those people who have been to the school to reflect on what a great time they had and the great memories they created while they were here."
