Eight businesses were broken into during the spree with the thief or thieves targeting cash that had been left on the premises.
Queanbeyan Detectives are investigating the crime and are interested in speaking to a male described as Caucasian, aged in his thirties, unshaven, wearing a light coloured hoodie who was seen riding a bicycle.
Police have also implored business owners to review their security measures in the wake of the thefts.
"Whilst Police will commit significant resources towards apprehending the person/s responsible for these crimes, we are encouraging all business owners to become more focused on security," detective inspector Neil Grey said.
"Owners need to ensure their property is locked and secure when unattended and under no circumstances should cash be left on the premises."
