POLICE have charged a 24-year-old Queanbeyan man following investigations into an alleged serious assault upon a 66-year-old man at Queanbeyan on Valentine’s Day this year.

Police will allege that the older man noticed the accused and a woman arguing in a white hatchback parked along Erin Street. When the man then enquired into the welfare of the woman, police say he was struck twice to the face and has since undergone surgery for facial injuries sustained.
Queanbeyan Police arrested the male accused at a Karabar address yesterday morning. A search warrant was executed at the time and the male was taken to the Queanbeyan Police Station and later charged with Recklessly cause grievous bodily harm, Assault occasioning actual bodily harm and Possess prohibited drug.
The accused was bailed to appear at the Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday, March 24.
