QUEANBEYAN swimmer Andrew Catchpole produced a dominant performance at last weekend’s NSW Country Championships in Sydney.

At the final major event before April’s Australian Championships, Catchpole broke the existing NSW Country records in both the 100m breaststroke (13 years) and the 200m breaststroke (13-14 years).
Just as importantly, the teenager posted a national qualifying time in the 13-14 years 200m individual medley.
As well as breaking two NSW Country records, Catchpole also set new ACT records in the 100m breaststroke and the 50m breaststroke.
The Campbell High student was far from the only Queanbeyan swimmer to perform strongly at the meet with Claire Molineux, Brad Rauter and sisters Georgia and Anita Manning also among the medals.
Molineux claimed victory in the 200m backstroke (12 years) and was second in the 100m backstroke.
Rauter, meanwhile, finished on the podium in three events: the 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle in the 10 and under age division.
The recently formed QT Swimming partnership between Queanbeyan and Telopea swim clubs finished the meet in fourth overall, despite fielding a relatively small representation.
Molineux and Georgia Manning helped QT Swimming to third in the 4x50m freestyle relay (12 and under). In the 12 and under medley relay, Molineux and Anita Manning were part of the club’s bronze medal winning team.
Fellow Queanbeyan swimmers Alex Lakic and Nik Trajkovski also swam well at the event.
