Clarke sets his sights on Sydney

But if all goes to plan, it could be the sprinter’s last start at her home track for the foreseeable future with trainer Garry Clarke aiming her at a metropolitan campaign.

After running in Queanbeyan next week, Oh So Adorable will line up in a fillies and mares race at Canterbury on December 13.

Clarke has been left with little option but to take his stable star to town after the daughter of 14-race winner Hurricane Stroller smashed the third track record of her short career at Gundagai on Snake Valley Cup day.

In taking out the $20,000 Snake Gully Flying Open Handicap (1000m) on November 15, Oh So Adorable added to her previous track records set at Queanbeyan and Moruya.

“The only problem is if she does go to town and win, I’ll have to keep going back there,” Clarke said with a laugh. “But as problems go that’s not the worst one to have.

“If she does go well [at Canterbury] we’ll then try to find a suitable Saturday meeting up there that’ll suit her but it just depends what’s available.

“The Spring Carnival’s over now and a lot of group horses have gone back to the paddock so it’s probably a decent time to take her up and have a go.”

Oh So Adorable’s only trip to town to date also marked her only failure of her short career after the then two-year-old failed at Royal Randwick in July, running 10th on a heavy track.

But Clarke said he was confident he’d have the promising galloper better prepared for her second trip up the Federal Highway.

And looking further afield, Clarke said a tilt at the Brisbane Racing Carnival in 2014 was also on the cards.

“We’ll have a look at Brisbane as well when the carnival starts up there,” he said. “[Fellow Queanbeyan trainer] Joe Cleary took Ta Ta Tatiana up there a few years ago and had a bit of success.”

“Joe said to me that I’ve got a lot better horse than [Ta Ta Tatiana] on my hands. He reckons I don’t know how good a horse I’ve got [in Oh So Adorable] and he’s probably right to be honest.”

Oh So Adorable’s stablemate Saharamar will also be making the trip to town with Clarke setting the four-race winner for her second start in Sydney despite unspectacular recent form.

After winning three races on the trot in December and January, Saharamar has placed just once in her past six starts.

The Markane sired mare ran unplaced in her last start at Goulburn last Sunday.
