There isn't one single thing that makes a luxurious hotel worthy of the Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards 2025 but a hundred small decadences and Australia has 9 of these special properties.

"Behind every Forbes Travel Guide Star Award lies a thousand small gestures: the concierge who tracks down a hidden cafe beloved by locals, the chef who sources ingredients from a generations-old farm, the spa therapist who crafts custom aromatherapy blends from native flowers," said Forbes.

The following Aussie hotels "demonstrate that true luxury is not measured in thread counts or square feet, but in moments of genuine connection."

Perth

Crown Towers Perth is the only hotel in Australia to receive five stars. Forbes called it one of the most expensive hotel builds in the country, and an "undisputed destination resort".

"Exuding understated glamour, Perth's most extravagant stay is ideally situated just a few minutes away from the city centre and the iconic Optus Stadium," they said.

Also worth a mention in Perth is Crown Spa Perth with four stars, a "sumptuous oasis" tucked away within the "lavish Crown Towers Perth, adding an elegant touch to the already over-the-top destination hotel."

COMO The Treasury Perth also won 4 stars, indulging with its "48 elegant, understated rooms and suites".

Sydney

Capella Sydney was awarded four stars. It's where history and contemporary stylings meet in the historical heart of Sydney, in an old Department of Education 1912 building. And the spa is meant to be brilliant.

The judges said "storytelling is the beating heart" of the Sydney hotel, "from the nightly Echoes of Eternity cocktail ritual to spa treatments inspired by Indigenous cures."

"It's these thoughtful touches that elevate Capella Sydney into a category all its own."

Sydney establishment The Darling in Pyrmont won four stars for its "upscale living with attentive service" and its The Darling Spa was also awarded four stars. Judges said you could "plan on finding Zen" in its peaceful atmosphere.

The Langham, Sydney in the Rocks was also awarded four stars for "capturing the classic elegance of yore" with a luxe and intimate setting.

Capping off the Sydney inclusions was Park Hyatt Sydney which the judges called "a home away from home on Sydney Harbour". It was awarded four stars.

Melbourne

Park Hyatt Melbourne also won four stars. Forbes said its luxury decor is "all about quiet, contemporary luxury" with hints of art deco design throughout fom the laser cut marble floors, chrome accents and polished dark wood furniture.

My all-time favourite destination is ... Cornwall. From the giant seagulls to the blustery beaches, Cornish pasties and fishing villages, it stirs something romantic and seafaring in me.

Next on my bucket list is … Mongolia. I want to go somewhere really unique that feels totally foreign and challenges my way of life.

My top travel tip is … Don’t plan too much. Walk the streets and let it happen. And make sure you check out what’s within a few blocks of your hotel - sometimes the best local food is found that way.
