Oliver has climbed the charts but does it have enough clout to stay at the top.
Oliver will have to continue its streak for another 13 years to beat John's impressive 23-year record between 1929 and 1951.
Generation Alpha, born between 2010 and 2024, is packed with Olivers. It has been Victoria's most popular male baby name every year since 2014.
Noah and Henry, also longtime favourites, were the second and third most popular in 2024. Leo, Theodore, Luca, Charlie, Jack, Archie and Levi rounded out the top ten.
Hudson, William, Oscar, Thomas, Harvey, Elijah, Lucas, Muhammad, James and Xavier were ranked 11 to 20.

For the first time, Isla took the top spot for girls in 2024, ahead of Charlotte, Amelia, Mia and Hazel.
Isla entered the top 100 in 2008 and has steadily crept to the number one position.
Olivia, Matilda, Grace, Ella, and Lily were ranked six to ten.
Harper, Ava, Ivy, Ruby, Chloe, Sienna, Evelyn, Sophie, Isabella and Mila were also popular girls' names in 2024.
New parents in NSW followed similar naming practices as their southern cousins.
In NSW, the top women's names in 2024 were Charlotte, Amelia, Olivia, Mia, Isla, Chloe, Harper, Hazel, Evelyn and Sophia.
Noah topped the boys list ahead of Oliver, Theodore, Luca, Henry, Leo, Hudson, Charlie, Lucas and Elijah.
Victorian Government Services minister Natalie Hutchins congratulated "all the new Islas and Olivers who topped the name charts for 2024".
"Naming little ones is a wonderful moment for parents - but settling on the name is not always an easy decision," she said.
