With widespread snowfalls and high winds forecast across the alpine area this weekend, ski enthusiasts are reminded to plan their journey and drive to the conditions.
Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro said heavy traffic was predicted along the Hume Highway, Federal Highway, Monaro Highway, Snowy Mountains Highway, Kosciuszko Road and Alpine Way as skiers and snowboarders head south to take advantage of the conditions.
"We are asking motorists to exercise extreme caution when making their way to the snowfields this weekend," Mr Barilaro said.

"Conditions can be dramatically different to what people are normally used to, so drivers should reduce their speed, limit their braking, and keep an increased distance from the car in front as snow and black ice create additional road hazards.
"Motorists are reminded Kosciusko National Park has restrictions on resort capacity due to the impacts of COVID-19, and has asked visitors not to come to the Snowy Mountains for tobogganing and snow play this year.
"There will be roadblocks installed to manage visitor safety at Thredbo and Perisher."
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said it was essential motorists carry snow chains and know how to fit them before driving to the snow fields.
"Every season we see many vehicles running off the road because drivers are not carrying snow chains or are unsure how to fit them properly," Mr Toole said.
"If you're not sure which wheels to fit the chains to, ask your mechanic or snow chain hirer. While 4WD vehicles may not be required to fit snow chains, we recommend you carry chains and fit them - especially if driving in snow and ice conditions."
Anyone travelling to the snow this weekend should visit the Live Traffic website before starting their trip to ensure they are aware of current conditions on the road network.
Information will be displayed on electronic signs, including real-time traffic information to assist motorists make journey decisions.
Motorists are asked to allow additional travel time to ensure everyone gets to their destination safely.
