A minutely detailed charcoal drawing of an owl in flight has taken out the 2019 Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Art Award.
The work, Into the Night, by Linda Denning, has earned the artist $2000.
Other prizes went to Holly Treadaway, who won the Emerging Artist Award for her drawing on paper, titled Vickie, and Patrick Morison, who won the Hive Studio Exhibition Award for his painting, titled Sweetheart.

The winners of the 2019 QPRC Regional Art Awards were officially announced last Tuesday evening at The Q.
A crowd of around 70 people gathered to see the exhibition and hear the award recipients for 2019.
This years' guest judges were Susan Foxlee, co-owner and director of Suki and Hugh Gallery in Bungendore, Alex Asch, a practicing artist whose work is in corporate collections and galleries all over the world, and Maggie Hickey, president of BRAG - Braidwood Regional Art Gallery. Helen and Simon Ferguson of the Queanbeyan Hive judged the Hive Exhibition Award.
The judges' decisions were unanimous, looking to award works that demonstrated 'risk taking' and deviated from the norm, be that in subject, media or technique.
Visitors are now encouraged to cast their vote for the $500 People's Choice Award by visiting the exhibition to cast their votes. This award will be announced on October 31.
The exhibition continues until November 2 at The Q gallery, open weekdays 10am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm.
