Spears was elected to the position at the association's annual general meeting on Monday night which also saw a raft of further changes to the executive committee.
There will be three new faces on the committee next year including Jerrabomberra's Andrew Naef who was elected as vice president and Sylvia Clough as the association's new secretary.
Newly-elected senior chairperson Pete Newham will also take a new role in the club's governing hierarchy having previously served as publicity officer for the past three years.
"As was said on [Monday] night, I think it was time for the injection of some new people and some new ideas to the committee and I think these changes are going to be a positive step forward for QNA," Newham said.
"You've got three completely new people on board and also a few people who have always been involved but who are stepping up. There was plenty of interest in all of the positions which was refreshing."
Despite the changes, QNA is not entering totally uncharted waters. Michelle Smith has retained her role as treasurer, Tina Phillips will stay on umpires convener while Breust will take on a new role as member's protection officer.
Taking over the reins of senior chairperson from Jodi Ross, Newham said his primary focus would be on increasing participation.
"Where there has perhaps been a greater emphasis on the junior representative program, I think the senior competition has been overlooked a little bit in recent years," he said.
"The main focus for me will be looking to get participation up across the senior grades the lower grade competitions especially can to be a bit forgotten about."
Newham also pointed to the successful introduction of the inter-district competition this year as an area the association could expand upon next season.
