The television presenter, who had a one-year battle with breast cancer four years ago, shared the happy news in an Instagram post on Thursday night.

"Yes, it's true," the 42-year-old revealed. "Thrilled to bits to share that [husband, Marcus Obermeder] and I are adding to our family thanks to the most incredible surrogate."

Obermeder said the family, who have a four-year-old daughter Annabelle Grace, had shared their story of "ups and downs" on this week's episode of Sunday Night.

Obermeder was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2011, the day before Annabelle Grace was born.

After giving birth, the former Today Tonight reporter, who currently co-hosts Channel Seven's daytime show The Daily Edition, underwent eight months of chemotherapy and two mastectomies.

She was given the all clear in October 2012.

In January the National Breast Cancer Foundation ambassador revealed she had suffered a miscarriage.

"There was so much loss personally," Obermeder wrote on her Instagram account, reflecting on her 2015. "A miscarriage and the loss of Marcus' beautiful mum leaves us heartbroken but also all the more grateful for the love and the family that we do have and here's to a hope filled 2016."

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph in October 2015, Obermeder said she was looking to surrogacy after doctors told her it would be dangerous to become pregnant again.

It is not known whether the miscarriage she referenced was experienced personally or by the family's surrogate.
