Scoring the bye this weekend, the Whites will enter the major semi final well-rested, having peaked at the right end of the season, and captain Dan Penca said the showing against the Owls had solidified his confidence.

"It was good when the boys kind of kicked into gear after we started a bit slow, but that has been a little bit of a trend for us this year," he said.

"Once we got going, we played some really good footy, especially in that mid-50 minute mark.

"We subbed off a lot of players towards the end and they got a bit of a roll on and were a bit hard to stop but during that middle period, we played really, really well."

The Whites squad was bolstered for their clash against the Owls by the addition of Brumbies Robbie Coleman and Les Makin, and Penca said their influence on the pitch strengthened Queanbeyan further.

"He's [Coleman] played in the last three games for us and it's been really good to have someone of his calibre back.

"We also have Les Makin in the front row as well, so just having those contracted players playing with us has built up our squad even stronger.

"Robbie's really calm and he has played with us in the past, in a John I Dent Cup grand final, so he brings that experience to the table, what it takes to win the competition."

Following this weekend's bye, the Queanbeyan Whites will lace up their boots to take on the Tuggeranong Vikings in the major semi final at Viking Park on Saturday, July 30, from 3pm.
