Fresh produce that would usually go to waste inow gets passed on, through Coles' national charity SecondBite.
Until August 2, customers at Riverside Plaza can buy a $2 SecondBite donation card that will provide five meals to needy families in Australia.
The campaign to raise money for SecondBite has been running since June 29 and will run for five weeks in total.
Other Coles stores participating in the drive are scattered across the Canberra region in Jamison, Curtin, Belconnen, Gungahlin, Manuka and Woden.
Coles State General Manager Thinus Keeve said too many people across the country can't afford regular, healthy meals.
"We hope that through our surplus fresh food donations and the support from our local customers, we can make a real difference to people doing it tough this winter," he said.
SecondBite CEO Jim Mullan said their charity is providing 23,000 meals each day to families across Australia.
The fundraising campaign for SecondBite will run in all Coles supermarkets nationally from 29 June to 2 August.
