Queanbeyan High School students Trent Britton and Brad Rauter are no strangers to sporting success. Britton gave up lawn bowls, Aussie rules, rugby league, OzTag, touch football, and cricket, to focus on his golfing career, while Rauter is a star swimmer when he's not on a footy field.
Recently gaining a Wilson Staff sponsorship, Britton holds no regrets regarding his decisions and will compete at the Ganton & Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club in Yorkshire between July 25 and 30.
"It's exciting but I'm nervous at the same time," Britton said.
"My handicap is just eligible and most of them are going to be pretty solid golfers.
"But I'm heading to the golf course every day after school and sometimes during school, they have really been helping me out."
Meanwhile, Rauter's experiences as a 13-year-old in a 15-year-old's competition proved enlightening.
"There was this one kid I was marking and he was a head taller than me," he said.
"But I did alright, I got a couple of touches."
Queanbeyan High head of physical education Greg Hair said the sporting success reflected the hard work of both the students and the teaching staff.
"We have done a lot of things over the last three years to boost sport and PE within the school and we created a few different opportunities for kids," he said.
"We're just starting to see a few good sports people coming through and we're able to tap into that and support them so for us we're growing from strength to strength."
