To have five generations all alive at one time is remarkable in the first place and on top of that they all still live around Queanbeyan.
Anneliese, the matriarch of the family came to Australia in 1951 from Germany with her husband and their two kids.
Upon arrival the family lived in Cowra Migrants Camp for five years, until coming to Queanbeyan in 1956.
"We lived in the old Kent Hotel where most migrants lived at that time," said Elke, Anneliese's eldest daughter.
In the end, their six person family were all living at the hotel.
In 1962 the family moved over the border to the ACT.
"We didn't want to leave Queanbeyan, we loved it,"
"I always said I'd come back."
And in 2000 that's just what they did, and they haven't left since.
Today their family is spread out across Queanbeyan and the ACT, the cities have changed a lot, but Elke says Queanbeyan will always be her home.
