Originally Ms Day just wanted some pet ducks for her retirement, but 22 ducks and several local and national prizes later, she is at the top her game.
After a friend gave her some ducks in 2007, Ms Day began her collection with ten little ducklings.
The same friend advised her to join a poultry club and come along to some shows the following year.
At her first show she ended up winning third prize for her duck.
"That really encouraged me, so then I started breeding from the ducks I had, joined a waterfowl club and the rest is history."
Ms Day breeds indian runners, a slender breed of duck originating in Southeast Asia.
The ideal shape is like a "wine bottle" according to Ms Day, and they must be pure white and slender.
In 2015, she won Champion Waterfowl at Sydney Royal Easter Show.
"That was probably the pinnacle of my success."
She's also won prizes at shows throughout the region in Canberra, Goulburn, Cooma and Harden.
"I went from just wanting backyard pets to winning a really big award and some really lovely medals."
On Sunday June 26, the Waterfowl Society of NSW is hosting their annual show at the Yass Showgrounds, Grand Junction Rd, Yass.
