Which is lucky considering Siciliano nearly called time on her burgeoning swimming career a year ago.
“I wanted to quit,” Siciliano said.
“I didn’t want to do it anymore but I feel better this year.
“I just didn’t have the passion or motivation anymore.”
Siciliano regained her passion for the pool throughout the summer season and competed in the 50m butterfly at All Schools, recording a slight time increase on her personal best.
“I went a little bit over my time but I was happy with my result.”
Rauter competed in four events including the 200 metre breaststroke, 100 metre freestyle, 50 metre breaststroke and 50 metre backstroke - all with a sprained foot.
“I did no good,” Rauter said.
“I went up there and in everything I competed in, I went over my PB.”
“But it was pretty intense, you have the best swimmers from around NSW in that pool.”
Despite running over their personal bests, the pair wrapped up their summer season of swimming in style, with both Siciliano and Rauter gaining bragging rights as champions of their schools, zones, and regional swimming carnivals in 2016.
