Jerrabomberra's Bom Funk Dance Studio have recently returned to the country following a performance tour of Hong Kong, but never the type to rest on their laurels, the troupe has jumped straight back into performing as a part of Australian Dance Week.

An annual celebration of dance in all its forms, Australian Dance Week runs between Sunday, May 1, and Sunday, May 8.
It aims to raise awareness of both professional and grassroots dance in communities, and Bom Funk Dance Studio director Kym Degenhart said the week provided the opportunity for people of all experience and skill level to engage with creative movement.
"Basically Australian Dance Week is a celebration of dance, with the purpose to expose more people to dance, and of all ages, all body types, all shapes, sizes and personalities, just everything," Degenhart said.
"There are lots of different performance opportunities, there's opportunities to take different styles of class or to try a class for the very first time.
"Ausdance ACT run a lot of programs for Australian Dance Week and we love getting involved in these events with them and on the weekend we performed at the National Portrait Gallery, so that was a really great experience for the troupe."
Term two has just begun for the Bom Funk Dance crew and the studio will be offering free trial classes until Sunday as a part of Australian Dance Week.
"We're back into classes with free trial classes all throughout dance week," Ms Degenhart said.
"We are also a performance school so we try to provide as many opportunities as we can for students to perform, which is why we have two shows a year that the entire studio is involved in, as well as lots of other opportunities and competitions for our dancers throughout the year."
