Princes Harry and William will reportedly appear as stormtroopers in the next chapter in the Star Wars series.

It has been revealed that during the Princes' recent set visit, at Pinewood Studios, a scene was filmed for the blockbuster with Harry and William in full stormtrooper costume.

The scene will also feature new Star Wars addition Benicio del Toro (set to appear as the latest baddie, Lord Vikram), Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Fin), as reported by several UK outlets.

"The princes dressed up in full stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base," a source told The Guardian. "The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro's character when a group of stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry."

The Guardian also claimed Episode VIII has a tentative working title: Star Wars: Echoes of the Dark Side.

The Princes visited the Star Wars set as part of a promotion for the British film industry, meeting actors, make-up artists, set and costume designers. But at one point all staff, bar the director, Rian Johnson, actors and essential crew, were asked to leave so the scene could be shot.

The movie is being shot at Pinewood and in Mexico and commenced filming in January 2016.

Star Wars Episode VIII is due in cinemas in December 2017.
