MOST of the interest at club level in recent weeks has focused on Queanbeyan’s Championships Fours competition.
The tournament finalists will be decided this weekend when Marg Davies’ foursome takes on the other remaining semi-finalists to be skipped by Barbara Baker.
The winner of that clash will meet Coral McMurray, Val Cash, Pam Hannaford and Jan Sutton in the grand final after they emerged victorious in their semi-final on Thursday.
After some tight early ends, the foursome managed to close out its match against Neryle Pearson, Debbie Howell, Nerida Black and Janice McLennan.
Congratulations go to Neryle, Debbie, Nerida and Janice who played well despite not taking to the greens regularly.
Saturday will also see the commencement of the Consistency event.
In other club news, the midweek pennants are in full swing with a number of tight matches having been fought out each week.
In recent results, the club’s number one side took on City. With rinks shared, the result went down to shots with Queanbeyan scoring its first win of the season.
The number three side skipped by Donna Seddon travelled to Yass and was unable to return with a win despite producing a gallant mid-match fightback.
After giving away a big early lead, Queanbeyan managed to claw its way back in front but was unable to hold on in a tight finish.
The team skipped by Audrey Pritchard meanwhile, fought out a drawn match with the fine lead bowls play by Betty Miller a feature of the side’s play.
