Dance duo The Spooky Kids will be one of the local acts toperform in the final round of the 2012 Riverside Plaza Star Search competition tomorrow.
THE 2012 Riverside Plaza Star Search wraps up tomorrow with the final 26 performers battling it out in the grand final round.
Earlier this week, judges Stephen Pike, Nikki Knieriem and Anthony Dellamarta watched a variety of singers, musicians and dancers grace the stage in a series of three finals heats.
The judges cut down the pool of 50 performers choosing 24 in both the junior and senior categories and two wildcard entries to compete for the title.
One of the finalists in the senior division is singer Claudia Tetreault who is no stranger to the competition.
She progressed to the final round of the 2008 competition but did not place. She hopes to change that on Saturday.
Miss Tetreault dazzled the judges with her performance of "At Last" by Etta James.
"This song has a really difficult range but I really enjoy singing in the higher register an dusting my head voice," she said.
"There's a lot of emotion in the song, it just flows naturally."
The year 12 student said she was impressed by many of the other performers and is looking forward to the grand final.
"The great thing is that it's a local competition and the crowd are so supportive," she said.
"The food court also has very good acoustics surprisingly."
Miss Tetreault doesn't have the luxury of resting her voice before the performance as she is currently playing the character Dionne in the local production of the musical, Hair.
"I have a performance on Friday night before the finals so my voice will definitely be exercised for the final," she said.
The judges will score the performers on stage presence, appearance, technical ability and audience appeal.
More than $2000 worth of prizes will be awarded for first place, runner up. a judges' encouragement award in the senior and junior categories and a crowd favourite award.
The 2012 Riverside Plaza Star Search grand final will be held in the food court on Saturday, October 6 at 11am.
