Yet another throwback to mid-century fashion with this gloriously playful chair that's sure to be the standout feature of any room. The latest Kartell Philippe Starck creation is upholstered in Gucci fabric, recognisable by its geometric patterns in a kaleidoscope of colours.

The "Madame" follows Starck's "Mademoiselle" chair which has previously been dressed by Missoni, Moschino and even musician Lenny Kravitz.

Look closely and you'll see the fabric images of Paris, Shanghai, Rome or New York.

COLOUR ME CHIC

The inspiration is from artist-in-residence Jelena Pticek, whose job it is to show consumers how to rescue discarded furniture for Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint brand.

This multi-hued dresser, featuring the happy hue of Barcelona Orange, was one of the most popular makeovers on social media last year and Pticek continues to push the limits of her imagination to fashion chic upcycled pieces (follow her on IG @poppyseedcreativeliving).

The paint suits furniture renovation because it goes on any surface and can give a matt faded texture to suit French provincial, Swedish minimalism and the well-used cast-off look of boho chic.

Where the arts meet design.

Seneca Textiles has just launched 10 new collections of fabric and wallpapers from its Osborne & Little Design Studio range at the Paris Deco Off home decoration fair.

Among one of the more romantic off erings is Fantasque, a collection of abstract and geometric designs which pay tribute to the artistic and cultural movements of the early 20th century.

Cubiste pays homage to the avant garde movement led by Picasso and Braque, recognisable by its dynamic diagonals. The fabric is $200 a metre; wallpaper $420 per 10 x 68.5 metre roll.
