Village Building Company development manager Daniel Collings said at February's Planning and Development Review Committee meeting of council, that he was expecting the ACT government to hand a letter to Queanbeyan City Council to confirm the decision.
The news comes as the stage one subdivision, lodged in July last year, gets closer to final approvals. Stage one will open up 106 residential lots of between 330 and 561sqm, and two large lots of open space to be dedicated to council.
Mr Collings said once the site reached the 660th lot, the developers would gift a $5 million plot of land to the government for a school, and be able to open the secondary access of Sheppard Street between the suburb and the Monaro Highway.
"Unlike Googong, because we are on the border we have to jump through some extra hoops," Mr Collings said.
The stage one subdivision also includes the implementation of stormwater retention ponds which will be made to look like a "feature", Mr Collings said.
The decision on the stage one subdivision plans by the Joint Regional Planning Panel is likely to be approved once the Voluntary Planning Agreement is settled.
