New Zealand's national Waitangi Day is set to be celebrated in Queanbeyan Park from 10am-4pm. The day marks the signing of the treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document, in 1840. The Maori group will host the community event, which will include live performances and a range of food stalls.
Googfest is returning to Rockley Oval, Googong, and from 5pm to 9pm a star studded line-up of local talent including the likes of electro-indie ACT band SAFIA will grace the stage. Joining them will be Amber Nichols of The Voice, The Burley Griffin, Guyy and The Fox and The Kaleid Trio. Food stalls, fireworks and a free shuttle bus will all be available at the event.
Wildcare is holding a basic reptile and turtle shell repair training course at the Karabar Community Centre between 9am and 4pm. The training course aids people who are interested in helping to rescue and care for wildlife. For more information, contact Laurel on 6297 8806.
Rural Australians for Refugees (RARQ) is holding a presentation and discussion regarding refugees, asylum seekers, and how to engage with and support them. The discussion will be held at the Uniting Church, Queanbeyan between 2pm and 3pm.

In it's 31st year of existence, the Bungendore Country Music Muster will again be held at the Bungendore Showground. The show promises to deliver a high quality of Australian country music and awards. Admission prices are $30 for adults, with everyone below the age of 15 gaining free entry.

Approximately one in five Australians experience difficulties with mental illness every year. In an effort to educate local workers in supporting the mental health of their community, Southern NSW Partners in Recovery are providing free Mental Health First Aid Training. The training will be held at Queanbeyan Kangaroo Rugby League Football Club. Training spots are limited to 20 places, so register online at Eventbrite - Mental Health First Aid Training Queanbeyan. The Community Bush Dance, a Cancer Council NSW initiative, is the pre-launch for the Rekay for Life. The Bush Dance will be held at the Queanbeyan Showground for an evening of fun family entertainment. Learn to dance, spit roast and damper, live band and bush yarns will all be availabe from 4pm. Cost is $10 for a family, or $5 each.
Sunday, February 28
The Queanbeyan Multicultural Festival-Carnivale will return to the city for another year. Those in attendance will be able to witness the public signing between Queanbeyan City Council and the Refugee Council of Australia in recognising Queanbeyan as a Refugee Welcome Zone. Additionally, more than 20 performances will be held in celebration of a variety of cultures and nationalities. It will be held in Queanbeyan Town Park from 10am to 4pm.
Sunday, March 6
The Canberra Women and Girls' Fun Run will be reaching it's 30th birthday this year and to commemorate the occassion, participants are encouraged to come dressed in 'heroes' theme. The northern side of Lake Burley Griffin will play host to the event, with the Fun Run commencing at 9am. All proceeds raised during the Fun Run go to OvCan, a local ovarian cancer awareness and support group.
