When 16-year-old Nadezda Dorsoski's name was announced as the ACT women's division two most valuable player, the Queanbeyan basketballer was ecstatic but the unexpected award left her floored.

"I was kind of shocked," Dorsoski said.
"I didn't really expect to get it because I'm probably one of the youngest playing."
The MVP gong came off the back of a stellar 2015, in which Dorsoski was not only selected as part of the United States bound National Performance Program alongside fellow Queanbeyan basketballer Emma Rowcliffe, but was also a member of the championship winning Queanbeyan Yowies squad that took out the State League last year.
Dorsoski cited the competition quality and the intense nature of the senior women's grade in aiding her development as a player alongside her desire to improve.
"The majority of the games were good because of the competition," she said.
"The women are more aggressive and it kind of brings you up to play better so I guess that's what drives me the majority of the time to succeed and to try new things."
