Blues given cause to celebrate

AFTER an emotional three weeks following the death

of clubmate Jay Lasscock, the Queanbeyan Blues

reserve grade had cause to celebrate on Saturday after downing Goulburn 26-22 in the grand final.

Blues captain Simon Holstein dedicated the victory to Lasscock while coach Ronnie Hoare presented his premiership medallion to Lasscock's young son Cooper.

The Blues, who had appeared set for a comfortable victory midway through the second-half, were forced to withstand a late Goulburn fightback as the visitors scored three tries in rapid succession with six minutes left to play.

Veteran Phil Stonham was inspirational for the home side and an easy choice for man of the match.
