THE Queanbeyan Kangaroos proved unable to repeat their premiership heroics of recent years, going to the Belconnen United Scholars 38-26 in the Canberra Raiders Cup grand final at Seiffert Oval.
The Kangaroos went into the match looking to make it three-straight championship victories but were denied by a Scholars side led ably superbly around the park by star five-eighth Brent Crisp.
Crisp was involved in everything for Belconnen as he single-handedly took the game away from the Roos.
The defending premiers were not helped by a surprisingly lacklustre performance in the first-half. But despite an error-riddled display, the Kangaroos still managed an 18-14 lead at the break before being overrun in the final 20 minutes.
