Rural Fire Service officer Darren Marks said the ban is in place as hot, windy weather is expected and there is a risk if fire escapes it could grow very large, very quickly.
"Total fire ban means that you can not light a fire in the open and if you did have a permit it is now suspended and no longer valid," Mr Marks said.
"If you see an unattended fire, call 000," he said.
