Four teams fired up the hot plates and use their creativity to create dishes to be judged by community members as part of the event.
Skyan Fernando from the Southern NSW Health District said the main goal was to promote healthy eating.
"We give the teams ingredients and no recipe and they have to come up with their own a dish. We got a bush beef and vegetable dish, coconut chicken curry and lime beef and noodles," she said.
"It's about nutrition and also introducing people to some ingredients they may be unfamiliar with and getting them comfortable with using it."
The 'Koori Cook-Off' was the main attraction for the NAIDOC family fun day which also included local entertainment, free lunch, amusement rides and stalls from local service providers.
Miss Fernando said she was pleased with the strong turnout from the community and hoped the event would grow." I just want to thank all the community members who participated," she said.
