Residents can drop-off sanitary pads and tampons at the health club on Morrisset Street and they will be given to the Louisa Queanbeyan Women's Refuge.

Curves Queanbeyan owner Lara Zelenka said there's been a positive response to the campaign which was launched just before Women's Health Week from September 7 - 11.

"Women are often thinking about their cardiovascular or blood pressure but women's health is all types of health including menstrual," she said.

"Refuges have had their funding cut and are only staffed from 9am - 5pm...[providing sanitary products] is just one less thing they will have to worry about."

Share the Dignity was founded by Brisbane woman Rochelle Courtenay earlier this year after hearing stories about homeless women and the difficulties they face when getting their period.

Ms Courtenay believes sanitary items should be a right not a privilege.

"No woman should suffer the indignity of choosing between eating and buying sanitary items," she said.

Mrs Zelenka said their support of 'Share the Dignity' would be on going.

"We've had a good response in just a week but I think with a bit more organisation and pushing...we can do better. We'll need a bigger bin soon," she said.

"When you purchase your [sanitary products] each month, maybe spare a thought and purchase an extra packet and drop it off."
