VARSITY Derby League (VDL) skaters lapped Queanbeyan Park a total of 1253 times, the equivalent of 626.650 kilometres or from Queanbeyan to Gosford and back. Why did they do it? Because it's great exercise? Because it was a nice day? Because they felt like it? Because they're crazy? No- it was all in the name of fundraising.

The 24 skaters raised more than $2000 from the day with money still to come from sponsorship and donations, also excluding funds raised from the bake sale and sausage sizzle.
Funds raised will go towards sending skaters to the Eastern Region Roller Derby Tournament in October, the men's nationals in Tasmania in November and VDL skaters representing Australia at the Calgary Men's Roller Derby World Cup next year.
