Dating site EliteSingles asked 25,000 Australians to rate their libidos and, overwhelmingly, those in coastal areas came up on top.

Sydney beachside suburbs on both sides of the bridge took out the top two spots, with Coogee in the city's eastern suburbs named the postcode with Australia's highest libidos, followed by lower northern beaches suburb Manly at No.2.

Southern beach suburb Cronulla also made the list, coming in at No.4, while Bondi was home to the country's ninth-most active libidos.

Down in Melbourne, it was all about the inner south and inner east, with South Melbourne, Port Melbourne and St Kilda all appearing in the top 10.

Brunswick was the only suburb north of Melbourne's CBD to make the list, posting a respectable eighth place.

Queensland's Gold Coast lived up to its party reputation, with the city's Broadbeach found to be home to the sixth-highest libidos in the country.

But we can't all be between the sheets day and night.

While city postcodes dominated the list of high libido areas, regional cities were more likely to report low rates of sexual desire.

Respondents in Shepparton in Victoria were found to have the country's lowest libidos, followed by Caboolture in Queensland.
