Queanbeyan started the match uncharacteristically with a great deal of turnovers resulting from dropped ball and a less than convincing 10-8 lead at the break.
The Warriors hit the front early in the second half, but the Roos hit back thanks to a turnover deep in the Warriors attacking half and sprint to the try line by Adam Pearce.
West Belconnen responded to once again steal the lead, but Glenn Baker took it back for the Roos.
Matt Adam scored for the Roos, to give them some breathing room with a 10-point lead and 10 minutes to go.
A late try came for the Warriors, but it was too little too late, Queanbeyan holding on for a four-point win.
Roos captain/coach Aaron Gorrell said his team's efforts were a far cry from the stellar performances of weeks prior.
"Compared to the last couple of weeks we were pretty average," he said.
"We were always in control, but we had too much dropped ball and we were lucky to get away with it.
"We had to shuffle the backline and we weren't that organised, but hopefully we can get some momentum back."
Steve Dunn was the standout for the Roos, following on from fantastic performances in the past few games.
Troy Wiley was solid and debutant Cody Parsons promoted from the under-18s, was excellent.
Gorrell said he would be more than confident to play the young gun in first grade again.
Gorrell credited the Roos strong defensive line for the win, but said their attack was lacking, adding an all-round performance would be required when they take on Belconnen United Scholars on Saturday.
"[Scholars] have not won a game yet, but they've been improving and we don't want to be the team to give them their first win," he said.
"On the weekend we kept turning up and our effort was massive on the goal line. We need to build on that and our attack will come.
"We're going to have to be at our best [against Scholars] play to our structures and worry about our own backyard and things we can change."
QUEANBEYAN KANGAROOS 26 (Adam Pearce 2, Matt Adam, Glenn Baker, Dan Maskill tries; Jack Miller 3 goals) bt WEST BELCONNEN WARRIORS 22 (Dayne Ewings 2, Ryan McQueen, Luke Snedden tries; Howie Brown 3 goals) at Freebody Oval.
