A plumbed spittoon is the centrepiece of one main permanent tasting station, which will complement three other display tasting stations operating simultaneously.
Local and national wine, spirit, and beer tastings will be offered throughout the day at the 53rd NSW store from 11am.
There will also be raffle prizes as part of the opening festivities as well as a cricket bat signed by the one-day Australian squad which toured Sri Lanka in 2012 will be given away to one member.
"It's a big welcome to the adult lolly shop," opening store manager Becky Morrissey said.
"The new Queanbeyan store has employed 19 team members from the local community, including the permanent manager after it's up and running, Callum McNicol and customer experience manager Emma Hourigan.
We propose to increase this number to 25 in the coming months."
There's been mixed reactions to the arrival of the liquor monolith.
The day after trading opened, 54 posts to the Queanbeyan Age Facebook page were a mixed cocktail of positive and negative in response to the question "Will you shop there? Let us know if you will [or] not and why".
"This is a complete disgrace. So many small businesses will lose out from this company...," posted Katie W.
Jason S wrote "was pleasantly surprised that they have an entire section dedicated to local winemakers (maybe 10-12 Canberra district) which I've not seen in any Queanbeyan bottle shop let alone any be stocked. The service was also very good and staff friendly".
The appearance of the approximately 1400 square metre store has also drawn the ire of the community with some considering it an eyesore in the CBD.
Woolworths worked with the Queanbeyan Heritage Committee to find historic graphics relevant to Queanbeyan and the CBD to feature on film that covers the building's windows.
