The musical, based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, is a screen and stage hit.
It chronicles professor of phonetics Henry Higgins bet that he can train a bedraggled Cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, to pass for a duchess at an embassy ball.
He teaches her to assume a veneer of gentility, the most important element of which, he believes, is impeccable speech.
The play is a sharp lampoon of the rigid British class system of the day and a commentary on women's independence.
Alison Newhouse of the Queanbeyan Players said it was a great show to perform.
"It has principal roles for people who can sing, those who are predominately straight actors with a bit of singing, and lots of wonderful chorus work for both singers and dancers," she said.
With the 2015 production, the Queanbeyan Players have stayed true, not only to the original period of the play and the musical but also to the traditional vision and production of the show.
The show will be directed by Janet Tweedie, with choreography by Belinda Hassall, costumes by Janetta McRae and set design by Thompson Quan Wing.
Their production brings together a cast of 35 talented singers and actors - a range of old timers and newbies to the stage.
The very talented and versatile Tina Robinson, a graduate of WAAPA and an experienced performer, will play Eliza. She will be supported by stalwart and well known Canberra performer, Gerard Ninnes as Professor Henry Higgins.
The wonderfully endearing Peter Dark will play Colonel Pickering, and Rob Grice, as Alfred Doolittle.
The part of Mrs Higgins will be played by special guest star, Micki Beckete and the production is exceptionally lucky to have talented tenor take on the role of Freddy Eynsford-Hill.
"With such a talented team of principal players combined with team of fabulous, energetic chorus singers and dancers, the show promises to be a highlight in the Canberra / Queanbe-yan theatre scene this year," Ms Newhouse said.
The Queanbeyan Players will present My Fair Lady at The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre from June 5 - 13. To book tickets visit www.theq.net.au.
