The Red Shield Appeal is an annual occurence which is used to raise funds for the Salvos various causes, such as homelessness services, meals for the hungry, domestic violence services and disaster aid.
Salvation Army Queanbeyan Corps ministry assistant, Mr Midgelow has participated in the Red Shield Appeal for over 25 years and said it is such a worthy cause.
"I love doing it, meeting people you get hooked," he said.
"None of the money is used for the running of the business, every dollar and every cent goes towards Salvos work throughout Australia.
"There are a number of people in Queanbeyan who will benefit from these donations and unfortunately numbers are rising- homelessness, the cost of living, family disputes and unemployment are all increasing."
The Salvos are looking for doorknockers to cover the Queanbeyan Local Government Area on May 30 and 31 and Mr Midgelow said whether doorknocking or donating funds both are "generous gifts".
"Whether it's 10 cents from a young girl or a $200 cheque- there's never enough, so it all helps," he said.
"The people of Queanbeyan are very generous."
