IT WAS like a scene out of a sci-fi movie as stormtroopers inundated the streets of Queanbeyan earlier in the week.

The intergalactic characters were out and about in support of Victorian man Scott Loxley who is completing a marathon charity walk around the country.
Mr Loxley, 47, pledged to walk more than 15,000 kilometres solo across the country to raise funds for the new Monash Children's Hospital.
He stopped by Queanbeyan on Tuesday on his return journey home.
"I've got 780 kms to go and then that's it. I'm so happy to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's been so long. It's been nearly two years," he said.
"Since doing this I've learnt patience, I can only go as fast as I can go. My range of movement is very ordinary because I can only walk so fast. I walk about five kilometres an hour."
Beginning in late 2013, Mr Loxley has been on the road for more than 350 days and his epic quest has seen him storm through Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.
Mr Loxley is a 501st Legion member, an international volunteer Star Wars costuming organisation that attends events to raise money for children's charities.
Assisting him along the way has been fellow 501st Legion members who have joined him throughout his journey.
"It's fantastic. There's strength in numbers and the more people who see us, the more money we can raise," he said.
As part of his trip, Mr Loxley asked for donations at Riverside Plaza and held a raffle at Hotel Queanbeyan where he raised more than $910.
He has currently raised $60,000 for the project and hopes it will climb to $100,000 by the time he returns home in July.
"I've had mixed reactions [when people see me in costume] but it's all very positive. People who don't know what I'm doing will say, 'mate, what are you doing? Once I tell them what I'm doing, they donate," he said.
"The Stormtrooper is great. He advertises what I'm doing and people love having their photo taken with him."
