The loss came a week after Queanbeyan snagged a 13-point win against the Gunners at home.
Yowies coach Garry Ball said his squad definitely did not play with the same intensity as the week prior, but they were also simply outplayed by the Gunners.
"Canberra were the better side," he said.
"I don't think I've ever seen a group with such a high percentage of three-point shots.
"They got off to a really good start and I don't think we scored in the first four minutes."
Canberra went in to the first break with a 14-point lead and the visitors were on the back foot early, the margin out to 24 points by halftime.
There were moments of greatness for the Yowies in the third, but the home side still lead by a comfortable 17 points at three-quarter time.
Queanbeyan got back to within about 10 points, but the Gunners had secured the win early, running out eventual winners by 20 points.
The absence of Jono Miller was felt by the Yowies, said Ball, admitting some players stepped up, but not enough.
"Matt Ball (12 points) played exceptionally well and found the basket when other people couldn't; James Lee was thoughtful in play, but Jeff (Dowdell) (27 points) is our king pin at the moment- he's one of the more consistant players in our group," he said.
"I don't think everybody brought their A games, it was a bit disappointing... we need everyone to do a great job."
Ball puts the Gunners speed and versatility down as a key factor in the loss, but said other improvements are needed.
"We applied some better defence in the second half and had better ball movement," he said.
"But we need to control the tempo and stop teams like (Canberra) from running by getting in the lanes and making them play to our tempo.
"We also need to change things up on offence, we need smarter and more fluent play, so it's not as obvious what we're doing."
The Yowies return to the court on Sunday, May 10 against the Rams at the Queanbeyan Basketball Centre and Ball said it is a must win game.
"We need to get a few wins up, tweak the way we're playing and hopefully when we play against more difficult teams we can perform better, having improved."
