Neither team have dropped a game- the Vikings have one bonus point more than the Whites which currently gives them top spot.
The Whites held strong all day to come away with a solid 20 to 12 win over Wests at home on Saturday.
Wests were on the back foot early after a try and conversion from the home side.
They scored a try in response, but a penalty goal from Mitch Douch put the Whites up 10 to 5 at halftime.
Whites were quick out of the blocks to start the first half with a try next to the post to extend their lead to 12 points.
A penalty try to Wests brought the score back to an achievable 17 to 12 with 20 minutes to go, but the Whites held on for an eight-point win.
Whites coach Adam Fahey said the contest was always fierce, but he thought his boys were always one step ahead of the visitors.
"We won which was important, it was a really tough physical battle," he said.
"We always had that gap on them, but we struggled to get consistency.
"We had a very defence-oriented game, so I was proud of our defence."
Numerous missed opportunities meant the margin could have be extended further in the Whites favour- an area Fahey said the group will look to improve on.
"We have to work on knowing what to do with the ball, executing and finishing off," he said.
"We had the opportunity to score more points (against Wests)- against better sides that opportunity won't come too often, so we have to make the most of them."
The Whites all worked to ensure Wests would earn every metre gained, Fahey said.
"Tai Valeni was excellent and Karl Elliot did well against his old team," he said.
"Dan Penca did well and lead by example and Billy Chalker was good.
"But it was a good team performance."
Fahey said the Whites clash against Tuggeranong at Viking Park on Thursday night would not be easy, but he is hoping for their first away win.
"It's should be a tough contest because the Vikings are a very good side, but I'm quietly confident," he said.
"But we need a full 80-minute performance."
