Tabisa Biech Makoi, of Light Street, Manuka, appeared at Queanbeyan Local Court this week facing five counts of assaulting an officer in the execution of duty and one charge of refusing or failing to comply with direction.

Magistrate Michael Antrum described the accused's behaviour as "disgraceful". She repeatedly cursed at police and assaulted three different officers while being arrested.

"The language you used on New Year's Eve was disgraceful, that sort of language isn't acceptable anywhere...there were families there and kids. You were using the Fs and the Cs and throwing them around as if you were on a ship or somewhere," he said.

"[Police] have enough to do on New Year's Eve without you engaging in this disgraceful conduct."

The incident occurred on January 1, 2014 while the woman was celebrating New Year's Eve at Bondi Beach.

Police approached Makoi, 22-years-old, after they witnessed her in the middle of an altercation with a male.

She was directed to move on and warned about her offensive language. Her friends tried to take her away but she threw her shoes at the police, according to court documents.

Makoi was arrested and while being walked to the cage truck swore and spat at officers. Her saliva hit one officer in the eye and another one on the back of their police vest and down their right arm and hand.

The woman continued to be uncooperative kicking the door once she was secured in the cage truck and then refusing to get out of the truck when they arrived at the station.

While officers tried to get her out of the truck, she struck one and spat again.

Once in the charge room she was verbally abusive and violent. She was not afforded the opportunity of an interview.

Makoi told the court she was under the influence of alcohol during the time of the incident.

She was ordered to comply with a nine month good behaviour bond and to pay a $110 fine in addition to the 120 hours of community service.
